NBC Nightly News [Excerpt]

Jun 20, 2002

[Reporter Lisa] MYERS: The episode has hurt. Sales by Stewart's company, which sells everything from magazines and TV shows to color-coordinated toilet bowl cleaners, have remained stable. But the stock is down 14 percent, costing Stewart $87 million.

GEORGE NICHOLS (Morningstar Analyst): A lot of consumers viewed her as being a perfect personality and someone to look up to, and this kind of knocks her off her pedestal.

Ms. STEWART [Outside Clip]: It's a good thing.

MYERS: Whatever the outcome, being investigated by federal prosecutors, the SEC and Congress is not a good thing. Lisa Myers, NBC News, Washington.
